Not at all. Some people just don’t want to skate anymore. They feel differently about skating now than they did before. Many skaters are accustomed to seeing familiar faces and friends when they go to the skating rinks. However, life happens and many of those acquaintances stop skating. When these skaters continue to come to the rinks but their friends don’t, their attitude towards skating changes. That triggers the “skating is dying” mode. It’s not dying for the rest of us, just for them. You keep skating.
